Rise Up

If I look far ahead to the mountains of despair
Past the gloomy forests of misery
To the side of me a lake that polluted by great foe
I think of how our nation used to be

Rise up! As an ocean crashing on the shores
Rise up! As the flames on the fire
Rise up! As oppressed against old tyrants
And we’ll burn them on a mighty funeral pyre

The skies above are dark, and the chains have broken free
As the filthy rain descends upon our heads
Villages deserted, the people have all gone
No longer are you safe in Europe’s beds

Rise up! As an ocean crashing on the shores
Rise up! As the flames on the fire
Rise up! As oppressed against old tyrants
And we’ll burn them on a mighty funeral pyre

A sense of freedom a rising deep with in the heart
something that comes from deep within
Liberation is coming as we prepare our folk
May all our Gods forgive us all our sins

Rise up! As an ocean crashing on the shores
Rise up! As the flames on the fire
Rise up! As oppressed against old tyrants
And we’ll burn them on a mighty funeral pyre

To have a nation’s glory then to let it slip away
Like dirty water pouring down a drain
Committed such a sin
We as people need to plug the drain

Rise up! As an ocean crashing on the shores
Rise up! As the flames on the fire
Rise up! As oppressed against old tyrants
And we’ll burn them on a mighty funeral pyre
